The Edmonton Group Chat: What your friends are talking about this week (May 5)

Welcome to Edmonton’s group chat, your weekly roundup of what’s trending, what’s new, and what’s actually worth talking about. If your friends are talking about it, you’re going to find everything you need to know right in this article.

You might have noticed that the weather is finally shaping up for spring. This is amazing for not only me, not only you, but the entire group chat.

What’s trending, Edmonton?

Free dance lessons in the centre of the city

You heard it first here, folks! Salsa in the Square is back — spring edition!

Salsa in the Square is a program running every Wednesday in Churchill Square, thanks to ETOWN SALSA and the Edmonton Arts Council. From 6 to 8 every evening, you’ll get a free class where you’ll learn basic moves for different Latin dances.

Grab your friends and dance the night away. You won’t regret sharing this one with everyone.

A huge Lego convention is making an appearance this month

This Lego convention is a must-visit for anyone obsessed with blocks.

Whether you’re a Lego enthusiast or a casual builder, this convention will have you dive headfirst into anything and everything brick and block. Taking over the Alberta Aviation Museum on May 23 and 24, this convention will be complete with unique displays, Lego vendors, and opportunities to build yourself.

It’s the perfect afternoon to browse around and build, so feel free to check it out with your group chat.

This cat lounge is the perfect place to cuddle with the kitties

You’ll be itching to visit the Cheery Palace in Cheery Cat Co.’s store, a place where cats roam free, and where you can be a part of their fun. With weekly specials, there’s never a day when you won’t be able to visit and interact with these adorable animals.

Your group chat will definitely be thanking you for this find.

The KDays concert lineup was just unveiled… and it’s a good one

KDays is Edmonton’s most popular summer event, so it’s no question whether or not you’re familiar. The only question is: have you heard about the concert headliners this year?

For a full list of headliners, we’ve got Ty Dolla $ign, Down With Webster, Mother Mother, MICO, Connor Price, Peach Pit, bbno$, Noah Cyrus, Pennywise, and The Beaches. Not to mention, this is just the Main Stage lineup. There’s more news coming, so you’d better stay tuned for the CKUA Radio Stage and Klondike Park lineups coming soon.

It’s important to note — concerts are free with general admission to KDays. So grab your friends and get your tickets, because this is going to be a great fest, for sure.

Looking for flowers for Mother’s Day? No problem

Mother’s Day is coming up this Sunday. Sooner than you thought? Yeah, I went through the same thing.

We’ve rounded up a bunch of shops to get the perfect flower bouquet for your loved one. Whether it’s from Salisbury, Laurel’s, or somewhere completely different, I’m sure the woman in your life will love them.
