Disney is looking for performers & is holding open auditions in Toronto

Are you a Disney lover or know someone in your life who is? Disney Cruise Line is looking for performers to set sail with them and will be holding open auditions right here in Toronto. What better way to go into the new year than with the coolest job ever?

Here’s what to know and how to audition.

When and where

Firstly, you’ll need to mark your calendar. According to Disney Cruise Line, the auditions will span two days: December 2nd, 2024 and December 3rd, 2024 at Studio North on Dupont Street in Toronto.

The December 2nd audition has a call time of 10:00 AM and is for mainstage dancers while the December 3rd audition, also at 10:00 AM, is for character performers.

Check-in will run between 9:30 and 9:55 AM. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and are asked to wear comfortable clothing and shoes they can move in (no jeans; no socks, heels or bare feet).

Auditioning

For those auditioning to be a mainstage dancer, you must be trained in ballet and jazz with some roles requiring tumbling and/or tap.

The other requirements for this specific position include:

  • Must be willing to comply with all Disney grooming guidelines and employment standards
  • All performers must be fluent in English (understanding, speaking, and writing)
  • Willing to travel

If you’re auditioning to be a character performer you can be anywhere from 4 foot 6 to 6 foot four.

The Female-Identifying Look-alike Roles that will need to be fulfilled include Anna, Ariel, Belle, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Cinderella, Elsa, Gamora, Merida, Mirabel, Moana, Mulan, Ms. Marvel, Okoye, Princess Jasmine, Princess Tiana, Rapunzel, Rey, Snow White, Shuri, and Wasp.

The Male-Identifying Look-alike Roles that will need to be fulfilled include Ant-Man, Aladdin, Black Panther, Bruno, Captain America, Captain Jack Sparrow, Doctor Strange, Flynn Rider, Hawkeye, Hiro, Kristoff, Loki, Peter Pan, Prince Charming, Prince Naveen, Shang-Chi, Star-Lord, Oaken, Spider-Man, and Thor.

Performers from all cultural backgrounds are encouraged to audition for all positions.

According to Dinsey, “A typical contract includes up to 8 weeks of rehearsal and 6 months onboard. Contracts also include competitive pay, travel, room and board, a significant contract completion bonus, and some guest dining privileges.”

Be sure to create a profile ahead of your audition and have all the required documents filled out and submitted.
