Diplo was just spotted at a Toronto mall and got hit with a hilarious prank

Although TIFF season is over, spotting celebrities in Toronto isn’t a rare occurrence. We see them everywhere, on popular streets, in restaurants, and now in one of the busiest malls in Canada: the Toronto Eaton Centre. American DJ and music producer Diplo was spotted roaming around the mall this past weekend, and it was as awkward as it was hilarious.

The great thing about a city like Toronto is that celebrities have no issue blending in. We tend not to disturb them or even realize they’re there in the first place. That was the case for the “Lean On” producer who was filming a TikTok while strolling through the tourist destination.

“I will never recover from this,” shared the star in his caption after his photographer pranked him by pointing out a man who wanted his autograph, just to find out that wasn’t the case.

But now the real question is, why was Diplo in Toronto? We do know he was in the region for the inaugural BCKYRD London music festival, a two-day event featuring world-class talent, this past weekend. So a visit to one of Toronto’s beloved malls makes sense.

If you missed him this time, who knows? Maybe the star is still roaming the streets of Toronto? Maybe you’ll catch him on Ossington? Or maybe you’ll just have to wait until he returns to the city.
