Take a ride on the Dino Train at this Jurassic expedition just outside of Toronto

If you’re a fan of Spielberg’s iconic film characters, the ones of the large, prehistoric variety, then we’ve got your weekend plans settled.

The Dino Train Experience is the perfect weekend adventure for all ages. You can walk among life-size animatronic dinosaurs, dig for fossils, and take a train ride on a retro-style locomotive that will take you on a trip back in time.

The train will take you along a picturesque heritage railway where you can enjoy sprawling views of the countryside, littered with gargantuan dinosaurs that roar and snap as you pass. Test out your knowledge and see if you remember the names of all the different Jurassic all-stars. There are more than 40 animatronic dinosaurs to spot, all constructed to be life-sized and stunningly detailed replicas of the ancient giants.

It wouldn’t be a Dino Train without opportunities to nerd out. Your ride will also feature knowledgeable guides and paleontologists to provide fun facts and answer any dinosaur-related questions you have. Learn about their ancient habits, habitats, and the latest discoveries in the scientific community.

Once you’re back from the train ride, there are interactive exhibits and activities for everyone to enjoy. Kids can dig for fossils in a specially designed excavation area or take part in dino-themed crafts and face painting. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, plus snacks to fuel the fun.

Even better, the Dino Train experience is easy to fit in on a weekend, with the Uxbridge Train Station just an hour’s drive out of Toronto. The Dino Train is just one of the many experiences offered by the York-Durham Heritage Railway Association, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the heritage of the Canadian railway.

Much like the real dinosaurs, the Dino Train won’t be around forever. So, if you or someone you know is dinosaur-obsessed, book your tickets soon!

DINO TRAIN EXPERIENCE

When: Saturday, August 26th to Sunday, September 3rd
Where: Uxbridge Train Station, 19 Railway Street, Uxbridge
