French retailer Decathlon is opening a unique first-in-Canada store in Toronto

Downtown Toronto is about to have a new place to shop for affordable athletic gear. Decathlon is opening at Union Station but unlike all of its other stores across the country, this location will be Canada’s very first Decathlon City store.

The French retailer is known for its wide array of “innovative sports gear and apparel at unbeatable prices,” to suit every shopper, their age, skill level, and activity of choice.

According to Decathlon, the Union Station store “gives you access to almost all of Decathlon’s online catalogue [of] nearly 7,000 products via same-day Click & Collect.”

It also “offers a connection point to seasonal services like skate sharpening and bike repair from our growing network of flagship GTA stores.”

The City store concept is not new to Decathlon and there are existing locations around the world.

It sounds a lot like the newly-opened downtown IKEA store in Toronto, which is a smaller format location with a mix of over 2,000 products available for purchase and a showroom where items are on display and available for take-home delivery.

Decathlon City is set to open at Union Station sometime this August 2022, not long after the new Sephora location opened its doors at the transit hub.

Next time you’re hopping on the train or passing through the area, you can swipe some new gear while you’re at it.
