You can float down this B.C. river with crystal-clear waters until next week

Considered one of Vancouver Island’s best-kept secrets, the Cowichan River tubing experience offers an unparalleled journey down the river, and The Tube Shack has extended its 2025 season on account of the beautiful weather.

The experience takes visitors on a 2.5-hour journey down the scenic river, with complimentary shuttle service available back from Little Beach, where the float ends.

The water is warm and shallow, the scenery is lush, and there are plenty of spots to hop off and take a break from tubing and go for a dip.

Those who want to ensure that their multiple tubes stick together during the float can request rope at the front office to tie them together.

While summer might be coming to a close sooner rather than later, it’s not too late to enjoy some classic summer fun. Visitors have until Sept. 5, 2025, to kick back and relax on a single or group-friendly tube.

Pricing and shuttle info

With tube rentals starting at $20 a pop and ranging from $15 to $27.50 each for groups, this is a great late-summer activity for the whole family to enjoy.

And if you have your own tube, the only cost you’ll have to worry about is the $10 shuttle ride back from your float.

Speaking of, the shuttle runs regularly from noon to 6:30 p.m., with a turnaround time of approximately 10 minutes on days when only one bus is running.

Ready to take on the scenic river yourself? You can book your tubing experience online. Note that those interested should book for the time they want to enter the water, excluding the time they plan to catch the shuttle back.

So there you have it, water lovers! If you’ve always wanted to float down the Cowichan River, now is your last chance for this year.

The Tube Shack, Cowichan River

How to get there: Take a ferry from Vancouver to Nanaimo and drive 53 minutes (66 km) via Trans-Canada Highway/BC-1 S to The Tube Shack
