Every Torontonian has an argument as to why the neighbourhood they live in is the best. Toronto has seemingly endless spots and pockets to live in, and each comes with its own set of delights, whether it’s restaurants, green spaces, cafes, walkability, or demographics.
I took to the place where all reasonable people go for answers: Reddit. Here are the responses I collected regarding the age-old question, “Which Toronto neighbourhoods are the coolest?”
Was I pleased to see this neighbourhood come up multiple times? Yes. Is it because I live in the Annex? Also yes.
According to Reddit users, the Annex is the place to be. While some commenters said it’s the perfect place for students because of its proximity to U of T, others claim it’s a great place to raise a family.
I agree with both, and I also agree with the gems of the neighbourhood mentioned by commentators, including:
Roncy has gained tons of popularity over the last few years, and it was pretty evident that Reddit users agree — it’s pretty cool.
Located on the west end of the city, this neighbourhood has it all. Cheap(ish) grocery stores, cool restaurants, cafes, local shops, and safe buildings to live in.
The neighbourhood’s annual Polish Festival is a must-visit, and when it comes to restaurants, here are the ones users suggested:
Another west end neighbourhood, found right by Ossington Ave and Trinity Bellwoods, aka where all the cool kids hang out.
Ossington is filled with restaurants and bars, while Trinity Bellwoods is one of the city’s most popular parks. Commenters noted that while living in the area can get pricey, it’s well worth it to be within walking distance of these two gems.
According to Reddit, Kensington used to be cooler, but it’s still cool.
Known for being a little grungy and full of character, Reddit says the best time to peruse the neighbourhood is in the summer during Pedestrian Sundays when all the stores bring their goods onto the streets, and the roads close off to vehicles.

Reddit says this is the neighbourhood where all the cool young adults migrate to after living out their downtown years.
Leslieville has lots of green space, is easy to commute to on transit, and is home to amazing spots like ANGLR, Wynona, Lake Inez, and Gio Rana’s Really Really Nice Restaurant.
Commenters also suggested strolling down Queen East on a summer afternoon to stop at the vintage shops, bakeries and patios along the way.
