Ever wanted to visit one of the ‘coolest’ streets in the world? You don’t have far to look in BC, because Time Out just listed Vancouver’s own Commercial Drive on its list of the coolest streets in the “world’s best cities.”
Over the past couple of years, the prevalence of outdoor drinking and dining and low-traffic areas has skyrocketed, making its way into all of the streets listed below. Recognized for their walkability and array of options, these streets set the bar high.

Listed at #5, Commercial Drive is recognized for staying “defiantly ungentrified,” rejecting big chains like McDonalds and Starbucks and opting to house one-of-a-kind mom-and-pop shops. Among them are a family-owned bowling alley, no fewer than four used bookstores and three record stores, and more pizza-by-the-slice spots than you may realize.
Another Canadian street was at 27, and it was Saint-Hubert Plaza in Montreal.
