A new exhibit arrives at The Polygon Gallery this weekend

Wanna put your head in the clouds? We’ve got the answer. This weekend, the new exhibit Cloud Album is opening at The Polygon Gallery in North Vancouver. And naturally, you can expect some pretty ‘lofty’ artworks to check out.

Turns out, taking photographs of the sky was a particularly tough thing to do when the medium first started out. However, by the second half of the 19th century, techniques and technology had improved enough that both professionals and amateurs alike could start pointing up.

So, this show focuses on the early stages of cloud photography, all the way until present day. Using photographs, albums, and books, Cloud Album represents the work of photographers, scientists, and amateurs capturing the “breadth and beauty of images of clouds.”

Some 250 works, all on loan from the Archive of Modern Conflict in London, will be on display. The exhibit officially opens this Friday, March 11th. So, keep it in mind if you’re heading to the North Shore anytime soon!
