This Vancouver Island lodge was listed among the best hotels & resorts in the world

Want to book a getaway for a special occasion coming up? Look no further than this stunning lodge on Vancouver Island – which was just featured in the Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List for 2023. The list marks the 29th annual collection of the best hotels and resorts in the world. So get ready to look at some pretty luxurious stays!

Every year, the CNT editors are asked about their favourite places to stay in the world. And this year, the Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge made an appearance on their coveted list.

Reachable only by boat, helicopter, or seaplane, the Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge debuted on Vancouver Island’s UNESCO-designated Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve in 1995. And according to CNT, the lodge brings the African wildlife safari experience to the Pacific Coast. So if you’re looking to get away from the city and reconnect with nature, this is a great place to do it.

A regenerative approach to tourism

“Right from the start, the hotel embraced a regenerative approach to tourism, aiming not just to preserve but to improve the surrounding wilderness and livelihood of the local First Nations people.”

After three years of renovations totalling $1.6 million, the Clayoquot remains a “pioneer of nature-based tourism and sustainable hospitality,” elevating the lodge’s dining offerings and introducing new signature experiences.

Guests can explore everything from horseback riding and kayaking to indulging in world-class spa treatments, which include soaking in cedar hot tubs and yoga on the waterfront deck.

While stays are definitely on the expensive side at $2,900 per night for two guests (all-inclusive), the lodge is certainly a bucket list stay worth considering.

That’s all for now, Vancouver! We’ll check back in soon.
