City of Toronto hosting recruitment event this weekend for jobs that pay $30 an hour

If you’re on the hunt for a new career with competitive pay, incredible benefits, and growth opportunities, these City of Toronto jobs are worth taking a look at.

The City is now recruiting new employees for its Solid Waste Management Services division and is hosting an open house this weekend for those interested in applying.

This division is responsible for “collecting, transporting, processing, composting and disposing of municipal and some private sector solid waste,” according to its website.

That includes garbage, recyclables, organics, yard waste, electronics and household hazardous waste.

Specifically, the City of Toronto is hiring Solid Waste Collection Operators and Heavy Equipment Operators.

Solid Waste Collection Operators must possess a valid DZ license and will have a compressed work schedule — the pay is a handsome $30.62 per hour.

Other requirements include a good driving record and knowledge of city streets, the ability to work in all weather conditions and handle various technical devices.

Heavy Equipment Operators are paid $31.34 per hour and must possess an AZ license. They must also be able to perform running repairs on equipment and operate various construction equipment.

The City will be hosting a recruitment open house on Saturday, January 28th for those who are interested in applying or learning more.

The event will be held at Ellesmere Yard in Scarborough from 9 AM to 3 PM. The address is 2000 Midland Avenue, Building A.

Candidates are asked to bring their resume, proof of eligibility to work, and a valid AZ or DZ driver’s licence.
