Here are some of the cheapest neighbourhoods in & around Vancouver for rentals

It comes as no surprise that Vancouver remains one of the most (if not THE most) expensive places to live in the country. Right now, the average rent for an unfurnished one-bedroom apartment sits at $2,257 per month – which is up $430 from last year. Yikes. But not all areas are renting around that average cost. There are several neighbourhoods in Vancouver offering rent for less, and liv.rent has shared where they’re hiding.

Without further ado, here are some of the cheapest neighbourhoods for rentals in Vancouver right now!

As a whole, the cheapest rent (for unfurnished units) in Metro Vancouver can be found in Abbotsford, Surrey, and Langley, despite the average rent rebound in Surrey (+7.91% from December to January). By contrast, the average rent in New West fell this month (-4.43%), as did Richmond (-5.87%).

In terms of furnished units, Langley saw the most significant month-to-month drop at -17.8%. And in Vancouver, the average cost of a furnished, one-bedroom unit fell by 3.86% – leaving Sunset-Victoria Fraserview and Kerrisdale as two of the most affordable places to rent in the city.

Well, that’s a wrap on some of the cheapest neighbourhoods. If you need some ideas to get started, you can check out these cheaper-than-average rentals in and around the city.

Happy apartment hunting, Vancouver!
