Here are the cheapest cities to rent a one-bedroom apartment in Canada right now

Need a change of scenery? From coast to coast, the great north has some pretty amazing cities, but in some cases, that quality comes at a price. For those looking to move from one location to another, housing rates can differ pretty dramatically as shown in a recently released report that details the cheapest places to rent in Canada as of March 2022.

According to Rentals.ca, the overall price for a one-bedroom apartment currently sits at $1,473, which for some might sound pretty darn steep; luckily, there are several cities well under the national average!

While destinations like Vancouver ($2,339) and Toronto ($2,044) remain far more expensive than most, prairie provinces like Alberta and Saskatchewan offer lower rates in some of their major cities.

Now it is important to note that rentals across the board are up from last month, but Calgary still found itself 26th on their list of 35, with an average price of just $1,267.

This, of course, was nothing compared to the average rental prices being offered in Edmonton ($1,038) or Lethbridge ($1,000), the windiest city of AB.

If however, you only wish to spend peanuts for your home – we’d recommend heading over to Red Deer, Grande Prairie, or Lloydminster which (as you can see above) has an average of $739 – the cheapest in the county.
