It’s no easy (or quick) task to get to the Rockies from Vancouver. So if we’re going, we want to make sure that we’re in store for something truly special. And well, we’ve absolutely found a stunning chalet near Golden, in the heart of one of the country’s best regions for skiing and other winter sports. Let’s check it out!
Dubbed the ‘Aurora House’, this modern ski chalet is located on one of the most stunning (and most challenging) ski resorts in the country- Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. With 60% of the runs classified as either ‘advanced’ or ‘expert’, we won’t recommend this for people looking to just dip their toes one weekend. But, if you’ve been around the block a few times, you’re going to be in heaven.

Well, we’ll make a slight correction. Because even if you just hang around the town, try some snowshoeing, and relax in the chalet, you’ll still love every second of it. With 4,000 square feet of living space spread across three floors, the home provides a wonderful mix of functionality and luxury.
On the one hand, the 5 bedrooms (capable of sleeping up to 13 adults) and 3.5 bedrooms mean that you won’t be tripping over each other getting ready each morning. And once you’re back from a day on the slopes? Toss your gear beside the space heaters in either the garage or the mud room so it’s ready to go the next morning.
That’s not all you can look forward to for your apres-ski activities, though. Some bonus amenities include a media room, a chef’s kitchen, a bar and a Sonos sound system. And of course, what luxury chalet would be complete without a hot tub to ease your muscles? This one though fits up to 6 people, making it the perfect spot to consume some apres-ski drinks.
The only problem here is the demand for this gorgeous spot! According to Airbnb, the Aurora House chalet in Golden has been more or less booked up for the rest of the winter. We’re not too bothered, though- even if we can’t get there this season, we’re keeping it in mind for the next!
