Celine Dion is in Paris and she is reportedly slated to perform at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony this Friday. Here’s what to know.
In an exclusive report by Variety, it is shared that the I’m Alive singer is rumoured to take the stage at the Olympic Games on July 26th, 2024.
This will be her first performance since being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022.
Though this is only rumoured, Dion has been spotted in Paris and has also shared a photo of her adventures in the French city on Tuesday.
“Every time I return to Paris, I remember there’s so much beauty and joy still to experience in the world,” read Dion’s caption.
“I love Paris, and I’m so happy to be back! Thank you to our wonderful friends at The Louvre!”

The Canadian passport is among the most powerful in the world
Per Variety, Dion arrived in Paris on Monday at the Royal Monceau Hotel. It just so happens to be near the Champs-Élysées, where another possibly opening ceremony headliner Lady Gaga is also staying.
Back in April in an interview with Vogue France, Dion shared her struggles with her recent diagnosis and how she hasn’t let her slow her down or stop her from doing what she does best.
“Life doesn’t give you any answers. You just have to live it!” shared the Canadian singer to Vogue.
“Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it’s over, I stay at home, listen to my songs, stand in front of my mirror and sing to myself. I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!”
We’re not the only ones hoping the rumours are true. According to BBC, French President Emmanuel Macron shared that he would be “immensely happy” if she would be performing at the ceremony, while speaking to French broadcaster France 2.
“I will not reveal anything, what (opening ceremony director) Thomas Jolly and all his teams have prepared. There is also a surprise,” he said.
If that happens to be the case, this will be the second time Dion takes the stage at the Olympics. She performed at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996.
Fingers crossed for Celine!
