HBO’s Alberta-shot ‘The Last of Us’ is looking for a new cast member

For those in, or trying to break into the film industry, these last few years have been full of opportunity and that momentum shows no sign of slowing. From set designers and truck drivers, prairie dogs have been offered jobs and even rolls in major production like HBO’s Alberta-shot ‘The Last of Us’ – whose team asked the public this week to help them find a new cast member.

“We are looking to cast a boy between the ages of 8 and 14 who is Black, deaf and fluent in ASL or BASL,” writer-producer Craig Mazin published on his Twitter. “Please send contact info, resume and photo to TLOUCastingHBO@gmail.com.”

While it’s unclear how long they will be accepting headshots at this time, but this might just be someone’s big break in the province!

Based on a popular video game of the same name, The Last Of Us follows Joel – a smuggler who’s tasked with escorting a young girl across a post-apocalyptic America and stars Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) and is expected to take the world by storm.

Sadly though, for fans excited to binge their way through it, you will have to wait a little longer than first reported according to a recent interview with Deadline.

Despite Ramsey confirming on Instagram earlier this month that the highly anticipated series would hit the small screen in 2022, the network’s Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys confirmed that the premiere will be pushed ahead to next year.

“I have seen some early episodes and I’m very excited,” Bloys told the publication. “What I’ve seen looks amazing, so I’m excited for it – but it will not [premiere] in ’22.”

Until then, share and encourage those may fit the description needed to apply! And we can’t wait to tune in to see the next local star!
