Ready to dance? A three-day Carnaval festival is coming to Vancouver this weekend

Who’s ready for a massive summertime fiesta? Vancouver non-profit Latincouver is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a ton of exciting events this July, including its own version of the popular Carnaval del Sol festival. Get ready to dance to over 300 live artists, ranging from traditional salsa and merengue to beats by a surprise guest DJ.

The all-ages festival will transform David Lam Park into “a hub of Latin American culture,” according to a release. This year’s festival will pay special tribute to Colombian culture with themed workshops, performances, and culinary experiences.

“We are extremely proud of this significant 15-year anniversary,” says Paola Murillo, founder and executive director of Latincouver. “Throughout this journey, we’ve helped create a strong voice for the Latin American community in Vancouver and beyond. I can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish in the next 15 years!”

And if you’re 19+, consider checking out Carnaval del Sol’s opening night concert, which will take place at the Beer Plaza with neon party sets, electronic sounds, gaita, and refreshments from Granville Island Brewing and Topo Chico.
