Car Free Day to become Car Free Month in Vancouver later this summer

After hosting a virtual festival last year, the folks behind Car Free Day have decided to try something new this year, and bring Car Free Month to Vancouver instead. Things are set to kick off late this summer, so let’s see what’s being planned!

Since 2008, Car Free Day Vancouver has been shutting down major thoroughfares to host their events. These locations included Commercial Drive, Main Street and roads around Kitsilano. While no locations have been released for this year yet, we have a sneaking suspicion they’ll be trying for the same spots. Although, they did mention they’ll be going to neighbourhoods they’ve not reached before.

Now, for what’s getting planned. According to a recent press release, this year’s instalment will be a series of smaller events starting on August 29th. Over around four weeks, people can expect “markets, performances, parklets, bike rides, audio tours, and more”. Hey, that sounds pretty darn nice to us!

We’ll keep our ears on the ground for any more news about Car Free Month in Vancouver this year. So, keep this in mind as we move further into summer, folks! After all, it’s a great feeling to be able to look forward to in-person options and events.

Have a great week, folks!
