Ontario has the longest canopy boardwalk ‘in the world’ & it’s above a forest

Ready to take your forest walk to new heights? As we transition from one beautiful season to another, the canopy boardwalk at Haliburton Forest is a must-do.

Described on the website as the “longest canopy boardwalk of its kind in the world,” this unique trail is over half a kilometre long and it’s situated among the treetops.

Elevated 10 to 20 metres off the ground, you’ll be gazing out at the stunning Haliburton Forest from above.

The canopy boardwalk is just one part of the incredible Canopy Tour, which runs until Thanksgiving weekend in October.

The four-part adventure begins with a scenic drive through the breathtaking private forest — driving your own car is optional.

Then, you’ll paddle a canoe across a wilderness lake and enjoy a guided walk through the Pelaw River Rapids.

Finally, you’ll arrive at the canopy boardwalk for those panoramic forest views.

The entire tour takes 3.5 to 4 hours to complete and is open to all visitors over 10 years old.

You’ll be given a complimentary day pass with your Canopy Tour admission, and there’s so much more to see at the Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve.

It even has an observatory where you can watch wolves roaming around in the wild, but note that it does have a separate admission cost.

So, whether you’re looking for a day trip to enjoy these last precious days of summer or observe the colourful autumn leaves, you simply can’t do better than this!
