Stay high-drated: British Columbians can soon order cannabis via Uber Eats & here’s what to know

Stocking up on your fave cannabis treats just got that much easier in BC. Starting Tuesday, April 18th, British Columbians can order safe, legal cannabis straight to their homes via Uber Eats. We don’t know about you, but we’re considering this an early 420 gift!

In partnership with leading online cannabis marketplace Leafly, Uber Eats is prepared to offer products from licensed cannabis retailers on their app, making BC the second province to do so. Those 19 years old or older can place their orders from local retailers and have them delivered to their door by the retailer’s provincially certified staff.

“More British Columbians are accessing legal cannabis than ever before. We are partnering with industry leaders like Leafly to help retailers offer safe, convenient options for people in British Columbia to purchase legal cannabis for delivery directly to their homes,” says Klaas Knieriem, General Manager of New Verticals for Uber Eats Canada. “This will help reduce impaired driving and improve road safety.”

Here’s how it works:

To place an order, open the Uber Eats app and select the “Recreational Cannabis” category, or search for one of the licensed retailers. Then, you’ll be asked to confirm your legal age to enter the virtual storefront.

Next, you’ll navigate the menu of the retailer and select your treats to order. Note that you must be located within the delivery radius of the retailer in order to place an order. Usual quantity limits for individual cannabis orders will apply.

Once your order is placed, the retailer will notify you once they’ve accepted the order. You’ll then receive an estimated time of delivery, just like when ordering takeout!

Independent third-party deliverers are not currently authorized to deliver cannabis, so your order will be handed off by the retailer’s own provincially certified staff.

Once you receive your order, your age and sobriety will be verified by the delivery staff.

Current cannabis retailers in BC:

  • Sea to Sky, Vancouver
  • Original Farm Cannabis, three locations in Vancouver and Victoria
  • Leisure For Cannabis, Vancouver
  • ARCannabis, four locations in Vancouver
  • 4Twenty Cannabis, two locations in Vancouver
  • North Shore Cannabis, Vancouver
  • Queensborough Cannabis, New Westminster

“Leafly has been empowering the cannabis marketplace in Canada for more than four years and we support more than 850 cannabis retailers in British Columbia. We are thrilled to work with Uber Eats to help licenced retailers bring safe, legal cannabis to people across the province,” said Yoko Miyashita, CEO of Leafly.

So there you have it, Vancouver! Safe, legal cannabis from a handful of trusted retailers, all a mere tap and scroll away. Remember to always opt for home delivery if you’re planning on driving.
