Hear that? Canada’s largest air show is soaring above Toronto all weekend long

Eyes to the skies, Toronto! It’s a bird, it’s a plane… oh wait, they really are planes. The Canadian International Air Show (CIAS) is returning for another epic display above the city this Labour Day weekend and here’s what to know.

The city is about to get really noisy – as if it wasn’t already. Known as Canada’s largest and longest-running air show, the CIAS will be celebrating the 75th annual event in Toronto from August 31st to September 2nd.

The event is described as a “jam-packed air display showcasing modern military jets, vintage warbirds, [and] thrilling aerobatics” featuring a lineup of amazing performers.

Many of those in the air show are from active serving units in the Royal Canadian Air Force and the United States Air Force, according to organizers.

And if you happen to go to the CNE on closing weekend, the action will be visible within some areas and you will likely catch glimpses of the Air Show overhead.

Do you need tickets for the Airshow?

For a full view on centre stage and live narration, tickets to the Exclusive Air Show Zone are available.  “This area is considered within the Marilyn Bell park grassed area,” per organizers. “This is across the street on the south side of Lakeshore Blvd in front of the Liberty Grand building.”

It’s located at 1095 Lake Shore Blvd. West. At the time of writing, there are only tickets available for September 2nd.

However, if you’re in the Lakeshore area, you may catch a nice view of the airshow.

Will the planes fly over the city?

According to the CIAS, the aircrafts appearing in the CIAS are stationed at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and Pearson International Airport. So that means you may see them flying over the city at times but they will be performing over Lake Ontario.

Where can I park my car?

If you’re heading to the Exclusive Air Show Zone, the closest paid parking is the Green P parking lot #855 near the OVO Athletic Centre. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the venue.

But if you’re asking us, public transportation may be best.

It’s really loud – is the show safe?

“Safety is of paramount importance at the Canadian International Air Show, and we are conscious of concerns with respect to safety and noise,” shares the CIAS.

“The Canadian International Air Show follows all safety guidelines and regulations as dictated by aviation authorities and holds our performers accountable to the same high safety standards.”

If you want to get tickets to the zone, you can get them right here. But we’re sure you’ll get to enjoy the view if you’re in the area too.
