This iconic ride at Canada’s Wonderland just got a massive new upgrade

A new roller coaster at Canada’s Wonderland is entering its final stretch.

According to the social media account Amusement Insiders, the park’s most anticipated ride, The DareDeviler, will complete its physical modifications on Monday and is expected to begin testing in the coming days.

The transformed interveted coaster first debuted at the park in 1995 as Top Gun. Since then, it has undergone multiple name changes, including Flight Deck, with the amusement park now rebranding it The DareDeviler.

More recently, the ride has spent months behind construction walls undergoing an extensive overhaul that’s far more than a simple rebrand. The roller coaster will feature brand-new trains with modern “open vest-style restraints” and “targeted track refinements” to deliver a noticeably smoother ride. It will also introduce a new storyline inspired by early aviation and the park’s Grande World Expo theme.

The video circulating online also confirms that, although the actual ride is nothing new — with the same track layout and inversions  — the trains are now wider, and the overall structure is supported by new columns to accommodate their width.

With the major construction work soon complete, the attraction appears ready for the next step: testing.

As the coaster moves into the quality-control phase, in hopes of clearance to open after rigorous testing procedures, the trains will repeatedly cycle through the course to verify the ride’s performance and overall safety before riders are officially allowed to board and enjoy the thrills.

While an official opening date has yet to be announced, the start of testing is often a strong indication that guests won’t have to wait much longer.

For coaster enthusiasts, The DareDeviler at Canada’s Wonderland has been closely watched throughout the current transformation. The park announced the ride’s full revamp earlier this year and had originally promised an “early summer” opening; the timeline was later pushed back as construction continued.

If the revamped coaster delivers on its promise of a smoother and more comfortable ride, The DareDeviler could become one of the most popular rides at Canada’s Wonderland this season.
