Here’s the latest update on Canada’s Wonderland’s new record-breaking coaster

Canada’s Wonderland’s new flagship attraction, AlpenFury, is racing towards a projected spring 2025 opening, and the record-breaking roller coaster is already looking quite impressive a few weeks ahead of the park’s 2025 season opener.

AlpenFury will launch riders out of the park’s iconic Wonder Mountain along a 1,000-metre-long track that will reach top speeds of 115 km/h with a mind-bending nine inversions — more than any other launch coaster on the continent.

And, Canada’s longest, tallest, and fastest launch coaster will be open sooner than you might think.

Throughout the hotly-anticipated attraction’s construction, Canada’s Wonderland has been teasing the public with glimpses of the coaster taking shape. On Tuesday, the park offered a new update on the ride, showing off the coaster’s track twisting and turning around Wonderland’s mountain centrepiece.

Impressive drone footage of the new ride shows construction zipping along, as well as glimpses of the coaster’s interaction with Wonder Mountain.

AlpenFury had become something of an open secret in the lead-up to its 2024 announcement. Canada’s Wonderland finally confirmed rampant speculation last August, announcing what is expected to become the park’s flagship attraction once open this year.

Construction was off to a somewhat slow start. However, Wonderland spokesperson Grace Peacock confirmed to Zoomer earlier this year that the park is “working to open AlpenFury early in the season” and promised further updates in the months to come.

Though there were some initial doubts from voices in the coaster-fan community about the attraction’s ability to hit its planned spring opening, rapid construction has since silenced all doubters, and AlpenFury is looking closer to reality every day.
