Canada’s only elevated park is in Ontario and has gorgeous autumn views

If you’ve never heard of an elevated park, neither had I, until I visited one of my childhood friends at her place in St. Thomas a few years back. There’s only one in Canada, making The St. Thomas Elevated Park the first and only of its kind. If you’ve never been, this is an ideal time of year to go, as the fall colours are extra beautiful.

The park actually used to be a railway, but is now a 30-foot-wide and 850-foot-long park above Kettle Creek Valley with flower beds, trees, benches, public art, and a trail for walking, running, and biking.

To preserve the history of the structure, the area was turned into an elevated park, which opened in 2017.

Public art displays also line the park, making your journey all the more interesting. All of the pieces were donated by local artists and have been installed along the park over the years.

The St. Thomas Elevated Park is open to the public seven days a week from dawn to dusk, and all four-legged friends are welcome!

Located about 30 minutes by car from London or two hours by car from Toronto, it’s a cute place to take a road trip to see fall colours.

For parking, there is plenty of street parking available on Centre Street and at the Jumbo Memorial, just half a block north on Talbot Street.

As someone who has visited before, I totally recommend checking it out.

Just five minutes down the road is The Bistro, a great spot to grab a bite and a drink once you’re done exploring the park.

Enjoy the sights, Ontario!
