While we were happy with second place last year, we’re even happier to see that Canada was just ranked as the best country in the world! The annual ranking, which looks at dozens of countries around the world, is one of the more robust surveys we’ve seen as well. Let’s check it out!
The ranking comes from U.S. News and World Report, in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania. This year, 78 countries were ranked based on a whopping 76 different attributes. These were placed in 10 larger groups like Heritage, Cultural Influence, ‘Open for Business’ and Quality of Life. All in, some 17,000 people from around the world participated in the survey, to gauge their perception of each country.

But, let’s see which other countries are in the top 10!
And while we’re happy for every country in the top 10, we’re obviously going to talk about Canada. For this year’s list, we actually received a perfect (relative) score of 100. What’s more, we’re apparently first in the world when it comes to quality of life and social purpose. Then, we’re third in the world in ‘Agility’ (responding to national obstacles) and ‘Open for Business’ (incentives for major companies).
