Calgary’s $80 million parkade & innovation centre opens in East Village today

After two long years of waiting and wondering, The Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) has announced that the East Village Parkade, a highly anticipated multiuse garage, will finally open to the public at 12 pm today, May 26th!

With 50,000 sqft of space, 500 parking stalls, an accessible sports court and a rooftop rental space with sweeping views of the city, this $80 million project is within walking distance of popular inner-city destinations like the Central Library and Stampede Grounds. But that’s not all!

The new space, which was designed by Kasian and 5468796 Architecture, will also include the Platform Innovation Centre, which is set to open this fall.

“The Platform Innovation Centre will bring together 50+ tech and innovation partners under one roof, providing a single point of access to resources, supports, programming and events for startups and entrepreneurs at all stages of their journey,” said Terry Rock, President and CEO of Platform Calgary.

“Our collective focus is on making Calgary a global hub for startups and innovation. The East Village neighbourhood is a vibrant emerging innovation district – a natural fit for our vision.”

Sounds pretty dang exciting, right!?
