Late-summer swim anyone? Byng Island Conservation Area in Ontario is said to have the largest outdoor pool in Canada, and it’s still open for the season.
Located around 90 minutes outside of Toronto, this conservation area has all kinds of summertime activities.
Byng Island provides access to the Grand River and Lake Erie for paddling, fishing, and sailing.
It spans 190 hectares and is composed of Carolinian forests, wetlands, and creeks, says the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA).
One of the highlights of this region is, of course, the outdoor swimming pool.
It is two acres in size, making it “the largest outdoor pool in Canada,” says GRCA.
It can hold up to 1,000 people and it even has a diving board.
Vancouver’s Kitsilano Pool holds the record for Canada’s “longest” outdoor pool at 137 metres.
