There’s a new live digital theatre experience in Toronto and here’s what we know

The great thing about living in and around Toronto is that there is no dearth of mind-blowing experiences to keep us entertained and educated. And Toronto’s own Bygone Theatre is bringing one such amazing experience to the historic Campbell House Museum. Enter: The Yellow Wallpaper.

The immersive experience is a one-of-a-kind digital theatre project based on the eponymous classic short story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Revolving around a woman forced into isolation on the pretext of a “rest cure,” the narrative explores the effects of isolation on mental health.

While the narrative might be familiar, its presentation will be a very innovative and personalized one. So, the live performance will be presented through artistic projection displays sponsored by Panasonic across different rooms of the museum.

Now here’s where things get really interesting— You can explore these rooms and interact with the unique elements in any order you like. And your understanding of the main character’s mental state will depend on the order you visit these rooms, the time you spend in each room and the way you interact with the elements there.

Meaning, each one can have a unique experience of the show and each of our visits will be just as unique.

While we are supporters of the in-person experience, for those who aren’t, there is also an online version. If you’d rather catch the show from your couch, The Yellow Wallpaper will be live-streamed via Zoom Events.

The show will run Wednesday through Sunday from Friday, March 3rd to Saturday, March 18th, 2023. And tickets are selling out fast.
