Albertans will soon be able to buy cannabis online from their favorite private sellers

Living the high life? Prepare to be blown away because major changes are coming to the way private companies can buy and distribute cannabis in Alberta. Here’s what we know so far.

In two weeks’ time, Albertans will finally be able to purchase their favourite cannabis products from their chosen (and legal) shop – without even having to leave the house.

“Starting March 8, 2022, licensed cannabis retailers in Alberta will be able to offer online sales of cannabis products,” The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission wrote on their notification page.

Up until now, only the AGLC has been able to sell their products online – but it won’t be long until this exclusivity all goes up in smoke.

Every city has a list of unwritten rules — here are Calgary’s

Thanks to Bill 80 – also known as the Red Tape Reduction Implementation Act which was passed in December – companies will soon be able to sell everything from pens and edibles to pre-rolled joints and oils on their own website as long as they abide by the following:

  • Companies must obtain an AGLC endorsement on their license.
  • Businesses must have an AGLC-approved way of validating a consumer’s age
  • Companies will only be able to deliver within Alberta

These products will only be able to get delivered via their OWN delivery people, Canada Post, or recognized courier service and will not be able to get distributed through any other 3rd party at this time.

So – get ready, bud! The future is weed-friendly and available at the push of a button.
