Saddle up: a new pop-up will bring live music & tasty treats to Calgary’s Stephen Avenue this Stampede

It’s here! Stampede week has arrived in Calgary and with it are more events than we can count – but who’s complaining? This year, give a warm western welcome to Buckaroos, a new pop-up celebrating togetherness, talent and fun.

Set to take over the Pioneer on Stephen Avenue, this temporary party spot will feature live music, in-house food and tasty drinks for the 10 most exciting days of 2023.

“In building Buckaroos, our main goal was to foster community in a positive and welcoming environment by celebrating Calgary Stampede in a new way,” said Managing Director of The Pioneer, Wyatt Norn.

“We’re excited to show off our rodeo roots and the new events that are available to the public this year. Our schedule will allow Stampede goers a chance to dive into what they love and explore new musical acts, local offerings and businesses.”

So what does their schedule look like?

In addition to throwback dance parties and a small business day, Buckaroos will also host a karaoke party and the following artists:

Friday, July 7th, 2023 – JJ Shiplett, Maddison Krebs & Lucette
Saturday, July 8th, 2023 – Coyote Kickback with Yung Nino & Friends
Sunday, July 9th, 2023 – Caesar Bar (free entry)
Wednesday, July 12th, 2023 – Shaela Miller, Skinny Dyck & Lady Baby
Saturday, July 15th, 2023 – Altameda

Ready to hit the town? Buckaroos will be open from 11 am to late, daily and tickets will be available on the Pioneer’s Buckaroos website.
