Brace yourself, temperatures are soaring even higher in Toronto this week

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any hotter in this city, we regret to inform you that Toronto’s weather this week is not showing signs of cooling down. In fact, daytime highs will climb new heights in the coming days, thanks to that humidity we have been all too familiar with over the past couple of months.

According to The Weather Network’s 7-day forecast for Toronto, it’ll feel like a whopping 44 C in the city on Tuesday, August 25th, accompanied by a “risk of strong thunderstorms.” The culprit is moist tropical air from the southern U.S. and the remnants of Tropical Storm Henri closing in on the Maritimes, the outlet says.

Wednesday will offer some relief from the extreme heat, but not much — humidex values will make it feel like 40 C in Toronto, with more thunderstorm activity expected.

A brief cold front will finally move into southern Ontario by the end of the workweek, with a 24 C high forecasted on Friday. However, the break won’t last long, as humidity will climb back into the low-to-mid 30s by the weekend and early next week.

It’s been a scorching August in much of the province, shattering 70-year temperature records in Toronto earlier this week, according to Environment Canada’s historical weather data.

You might want to enjoy the summer heat while it lasts, though. Southern Ontario is in for an early start to winter this year, with frigid temperatures and snowfall as early as three weeks before Christmas, according to The Weather Network’s winter outlook. However, the outlet predicts that the majority of the season will be “rather mild” in the southern end of the province, with possible “record warmth” at times.
