Boeing is closing its historic Seattle manufacturing and testing center

Just the other day we wrote about how Amazon has overtaken Boeing as the largest employer in Washington. And today marks another big move for Boeing as they have announced the closure of their Seattle manufacturing facility. This is otherwise known as the Advanced Developmental Composites (ADC).

This facility is where Boeing worked on some of its most important research programs for both military and commercial aircraft. And it’s where important pieces of the B2 Stealth bomber and the 787 Dreamliner were developed. So while the company is downplaying this facility closure, it’s clearly a pretty big deal.

Heads up! The average Uber trip will now cost about 25% more in Seattle

This facility houses two massive autoclaves which are responsible for hardening carbon composite to create plane parts. Additionally, it houses robotic equipment for fabricating structural aircraft pieces. So who knows where Boeing will continue this work especially with the future of travel up in the air (no pun intended).

But if you’d like to say goodbye one last time you can always take a drive down East Marginal Way.JTNDZGl2JTIwaWQlM0QlMjJtb2JpbGUtYWQtb25seSUyMiUzRSUwQSUzQyUyMS0tJTIwU2VhdHRsZSUyMC0lMjBNb2JpbGUlMjAtLSUzRSUwQSUzQ2lucyUyMGNsYXNzJTNEJTIyYWRzYnlnb29nbGUlMjIlMEElMjAlMjAlMjAlMjAlMjBzdHlsZSUzRCUyMmRpc3BsYXklM0FibG9jayUzQndpZHRoJTNBMzIwcHglM0JoZWlnaHQlM0E1MHB4JTNCJTIyJTBBJTIwJTIwJTIwJTIwJTIwZGF0YS1hZC1jbGllbnQlM0QlMjJjYS1wdWItNTUyMTg1Njk1NTQ5NzQ1NiUyMiUwQSUyMCUyMCUyMCUyMCUyMGRhdGEtYWQtc2xvdCUzRCUyMjE2MjcxNzI5NDclMjIlM0UlM0MlMkZpbnMlM0UlMEElM0MlMkZkaXYlM0U=
