There’s a boardwalk in an Ontario Park with two viewing towers to soak up the fall scenery

Ready for a tranquil escape? If you love sandy shores, boardwalk trails and historical lighthouses, Ontario’s Presqu’ile Provincial Park is the place to be. This peaceful haven offers nature enthusiasts a thrilling outdoor experience thanks to its natural beauty, especially in the fall. Here’s why right now is the perfect time to visit.

About a two-hour drive east of Toronto is Presqu’ile Provincial Park, along Lake Ontario.

According to Ontario Parks, it’s home to a 2.5 km sandy beach, 16 km of trails and paths, a migration hotspot in spring and fall, and a 1 km marsh boardwalk trail.

Per Ontario Parks, its landscape has come alive with dazzling hues, perfect for fall foliage chasers.

Walking adventures

And lucky for you, this park is a popular destination for walkers thanks to its 16 kilometres of trails and paths, shorelines, woodlands and meadows, according to The Bay of Quinte.

Trails include:

  • Jobes’ Woods Trail – 1.0 km
  • Owen Point Trail – 1.6 km
  • Marsh Trail – 1.2 km
  • Pioneer and Newcastle Trails – 8.1 km
  • Lighthouse Foot Path – 300 m
  • Cemetery Trail – 300 m

You’ll want to embark along the Marsh Trail to enjoy the 800 m boardwalk. Here you’ll find two viewing towers and a teaching platform.

There are sixteen interpretive panels along the trail that illustrate the story of the marsh and its inhabitants. As for the boardwalk portion of the trail, it is barrier-free.
