Brace yourself for the end of an era! Despite not being used in years, the big yellow slide at the Edmonton EXPO Centre will be demolished this week and it’s going to be mighty bittersweet.
Built in 1974, the Kiwanis slide is beloved by many and has been credited for bringing a ton of people together between its inception and when it was shut down in 2019.

“Most Edmontonians know the landmark and have braved the slide once or twice.” wrote Explore Edmonton, which also called the feature ‘historic.’
“But not to be forgotten, it was also a community builder, raising thousands for local and international groups.”
Alas, the attraction is no longer structurally sound and its last day on the grounds will be Wednesday, June 7th, ahead of K-Days 2023, making way for (what we hope are) new and exciting rides or activities.
Want to say your goodbyes? You’ll have until 10:30 am tomorrow – so don’t hesitate!
