10 of the best things to do in Edmonton this weekend (August 12-14)

Happy Thursday, Edmonton! We hope that you’ve enjoyed the week, and are ready to make the most of one of the last weekends of summer. Sheesh, it hurts to write that, but it just gives us all the more reason to get out there and have some fun.

Here are the best things to do in Edmonton this weekend.

2022 WORLD JUNIORS

Why not kick things off with some sporty options? The World Juniors have returned to the city, with daily games showcasing some of the best young talent from around the world. Including, of course, Canada’s team.

When: Games throughout the weekend
Where: Rogers Place, Edmonton
Cost: $40+

EDMONTON ELKS

Next up, we’ve got an Edmonton Elks home game! While the team has been struggling this season, a matchup against the Roughriders should prove to be extremely exciting.

When: Saturday, August 13th
Where: 11000 Stadium Road
Cost: $32.53+

EDMONTON FRINGE FESTIVAL

For those looking for something a little more, let’s call it funky, you’ll feel right at home at the Edmonton Fringe Festival. Check out dozens of local and touring shows from all walks of the theatre and performance world.

When: On throughout the weekend
Where: Venues around Edmonton

THE GREAT OUTDOORS COMEDY FESTIVAL

Not a concert, well, not really, but still amazing! Some huge names in the comedy game are coming to Edmonton, including Tom Segura, Amy Schumer, and Nick Swardson.

When: Starts Friday, August 12th
Where: Edmonton Exhibition Lands
Cost: $59+

AL FRESCO ON 104TH

It’s a good weekend to do a little shopping and enjoy our local scene! This summer-long outdoor series draws to a close at the end of this month, and we’re thinking that if the sun comes out to play then this weekend is a great time to check it out.

When: Saturday, August 13th
Where: 104th Street Downtown
Cost: Free to attend

CAPITAL CITY VINTAGE MARKET

On another note, this monthly vintage market is about to take over the old Army & Navy Building. If you haven’t been yet, expect some great local vendors, with everything from clothing to accessories and even furniture on sale.

When: Saturday, August 13th and Sunday, August 14th
Where: 10305 97 Street NW
Cost: Free to attend

IN YOUR HANDS ART FESTIVAL

To complete to trio of options, we’ve got this local, one-day-only festival hosted at The Backyard! Head down (for free) to check out some live music, enjoy the works of local artists, and do a little shopping in the market. Or, sign up for a workshop and learn something new.

When: Saturday, August 13th
Where: 10004 – 103A Avenue
Cost: Free to attend

HOP ON THE EDMONTON RIVERBOAT

One of the summer’s most beloved activities is back in action! The Edmonton Riverboat first set sail a couple of weeks ago, and will be cruising into the fall.

GET LOST AND FOUND IN A CORN MAZE

That’s right, the Edmonton Corn Maze is back for the season as well! Head down and quite literally lose yourself in acres upon acres of corn. Sounds like a Stephen King novel, but we assure you, it’s much more fun than that.

Cost: $12+ for GA
