Well, we might be coming up to the end of the season, but it’s not going easily. We’ve got a full week of snow in the forecast for Edmonton, which has us thinking about all the fun winter activities we can get up to! Let’s see what’s out there.
Here are 10 of the best things to do in Edmonton this week.
One of the city’s most well known festivals is back to kick off the week! Enjoy some live entertainment, eat delicious food, and of course, make sure to check out the canoe races.

Here’s another must-see festival. Returning to venues around Whyte Ave, this option combines a variety of art with live events like comedy shows, concerts, and more.

The ice rinks are calling, and we must go! From small and lesser-known spots to some of the most popular skating areas around, Edmonton is full of incredible options, and we’re going to make the most of them every chance we get!

We feel like sledding opportunities have been few and far between this winter. So, if it does snow, then make sure to head to your local hill for some fast, freezing, fun!

Speaking of snow, for an even more intense outdoor activity this week, you can always try your hand at cross-country skiing in some of Edmonton’s best parks! Our advice is to check in with your more outdoorsy friends or your parents and see if they’re willing to lend you some gear, too.

One big draw of Rabbit Hill? With over 40 acres when fully open, the hill is actually the largest to check out in the city. That means more runs and a pretty big terrain park to check out, just in case you’re trying to push yourself to be more extreme this winter. As for us? We’re happy cruising down the groomers.

This Calgary-born musician has developed a cult following over years, not decades, and continues to put out high-quality music. It falls under the (very broad) indie rock genre, but it’s got that homemade/high-quality mix that you just know sounds great live.

The Citadel Theatre is back to hosting live shows! This week, you can check out this hilarious play about an acting company trying to put on a production of the classic tale. Naturally, things get awry fast.

For even more variety, this is our recommendation. Comedy shows, small plays, fun satires… the Grindstone has it all and wants you to come to see for yourself.

The AGA has got not one, but two new exhibits! The artist Byron Samson (Mistikonâpêw) does incredible portraits of Indigenous leaders, while Maud Lewis is recognized as one of the most prominent folk artists in Canadian history.
