We asked Canadians for the best hotels in the country & here’s what they said

A good old-fashioned Google search usually does the trick when I need answers when it comes to travelling, but something about being able to actually ask people for their advice hits different. I’ve been hoping to do a little more in-Canada traveling… for no particular reason… and sought of the advice of my fellow Canucks. I took to Reddit to ask Canadians what the best hotels in the country are, and here’s what they had to say.

Let’s start with the repeated suggestions, a.k.a. the three spots that were suggested by multiple commentors.

Fairmont Banff Springs

This slice of paradise was the top suggestion. According to its website, the hotel is known as “Canada’s Castle in the Rockies” and is just minutes away from the Town of Banff.

Expect world-class skiing, gorgeous views, and an award-winning spa. Yes, please!

Where: 405 Spray Ave., Banff, Alta.

The St. Regis Toronto

This five-star spot in Toronto was a popular choice, and as someone who has stayed there before, I know why.

The hotel is dripping in luxury and is just steps away from some major attractions in the city, including the CN Tower, Scotiabank Arena, and Rogers Centre.

Don’t forget to check out the hotel’s restaurant/bar, Louix Louis, for exceptional food and cocktails.

Where: 325 Bay St., Toronto, Ont.

Fairmont Le Château Frontenac

It was no surprise to see another Fairmont property be suggested more than once, and this one is so dreamy it doesn’t even seem real.

My best friend and her fiance recently stayed here and raved about it as much as Reddit did.

“Enjoy breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River and Old Quebec, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while savoring local cuisine and cocktails in one of our four restaurants. From the European charm of our five-star rooms to the revitalizing treatments of the spa, our iconic luxury hotel promises an unforgettable stay that will inspire you,” shares its website. Need I say more?

Where: 1 Rue des Carrières, Québec, Que.

And now, for a few of the other stand-out spots that were suggested.

The Dorian

According to Reddit, if you’re planning a stay in downtown Calgary, The Dorian is the place to be.

Known for being vibrant with a touch of British whimsy, the hotel also features a gorgeous rooftop bar and restaurant on the 27th floor, The Wilde.

Where: 525 5th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.

Rosewood Hotel Georgia

Somehow, I had never heard of this gorgeous spot, so thanks, Reddit!

Located in downtown Vancouver, Rosewood Hotel Georgia is a five-star hotel that coins itself as one of the best in the world.

It features a relaxing spa and seven dining options, including multiple restaurants, bars, a cafe, and a terrace.

Where: 801 W Georgia St., Vancouver, B.C.

Auberge du Vieux-Port

Old Montreal is one of my favourite spots to visit, and this hotel was suggested, so, naturally, I will be booking a stay here soon.

Located next to the Saint Lawrence River, this hotel mixes coziness with luxury. The old brick interior with wood finishes will have you feeling like you’ve escaped to a European countryside.

One of its restaurants is called Pincette Lobster Bar. Yeah, I’m there.

Where: 97 Rue de la Commune E., Montréal, Que.

Well, there you have it, Canada. Do you agree that these are some of the best hotels in the country?
