This picturesque BC park has a beach & well-marked hiking trails to explore

If you enjoy lounging on long stretches of sandy beaches, we’ve got an amazing day trip idea to toss your way. Nestled in Central Okanagan west of Kelowna is Bear Creek Provincial Park – a picturesque spot for beachgoers, campers, and hikers alike.

Visitors can explore multiple well-marked hiking trails through beautiful Ponderosa pine and Douglas fir, and over rocky hills above the canyon. The narrow trails wind through enchanting forested areas that offer glimpses of wandering deer, squirrels, and even tree frogs!

The popular loop hike has three loops that all begin at the common trailhead, according to Tourism Kelowna. Ranked as a “moderate” hike, you can take the 1.4 km Mid Canyon Trail, or the 2.5 km Canyon Rim Trail.

Spanning 187 acres, the park offers a majestic escape from the city without being too far from nearby amenities. The park’s meandering namesake Bear Creek only adds another level of serenity to the experience.

And for campers – there are 143 sites to choose from, and all are vehicle-accessible, including 18 double sites.

Bear Creek Park is also renowned for its established picnic areas and recreational facilities, which include water from a cold well, pit or flush toilets, showers, a sani-station, sports fields, and even a playground with a miniature train.

What’s more, the park hosts a variety of festivals throughout the summer, from concerts to seasonal celebrations. And you can always check out some ice-climbing activities during the wintertime!

So there you have it, Vancouver! The start of summer is upon us, which means it’s the ideal time to do some exploring.
