Vancouver’s Cypress Mountain is building a 1.7 km mountain coaster for thrill seekers

Good news for the thrill-seekers out there! You no longer have to travel all the way to Revelstoke to experience the joy of a mountain coaster. You know, those things that just fly down the side on rails, while all you have is a brake. It sounds awesome, we’re not going to lie.

Which is why we’re so excited about the announcement from Cypress Mountain today. Their new coaster will run a total of 1.7km, with a vertical of 900 feet. What’s more, you’ll be able to reach top speeds of up to 40km/hour. Doesn’t sound fast, until it’s just you and a seat. On a rail. On the side of a mountain.

According to the ski hill, past 1 of construction is already underway. Things will stop for the winter season, but Cypress hopes to have the coaster up and running by summer next year! We can’t wait to go check it out, maybe this is the thing that will challenge the wooden coaster at PlayLand, who knows.

You can check out the full press release on the mountain coaster at Cypress Mountain right here, folks. Enjoy the rest of the day!
