Ready to do some good in our province? We sure are. BC Dairy’s partnership with local food banks aims to help thousands of people in the community facing food insecurity, and YOU can help this initiative go further with its latest fundraising campaign.
For BC’s dairy farmers, community involvement is nothing new. Since the outset of the pandemic, they have donated approximately 50,000 kg of dairy products and over $200,000 in cash donations.
You might be asking yourself, what’s the big deal about dairy?
Well, dairy products are actually among the top requested items at food banks. Each month, Food Banks BC provides over 248,000 meals through shelters, soup kitchens, and school lunch programs. These donations make big strides toward helping those in need, but it’s not enough.
The bad news is that food bank visits have increased by over 30% since 2019, with nearly a third of all food bank users in BC being children. Not to mention that the number of seniors accessing food banks has also been on the rise for the past 2 years.
These numbers may sound disheartening, but you can help!
It’s all about amplifying the impact of your donations. From now to August 1st, BC’s dairy farmers will match all community donations to a maximum of $50,000 – that’s a lot of food!
Giving back feels good, and you can feel extra good this month supporting Food Banks BC.
Donate today, and BC’s dairy farmers will make your good deed go further.
