You can stay on a ranch near Calgary with llamas just outside your door

If staying somewhere with llamas casually wandering around the property was not on your bingo card, this Alberta Airbnb is about to change that.

Located just a short drive west of Calgary in Bragg Creek, Basecamp Ranch feels like a mix between rustic farm life and a quiet mountain escape with a herd of llamas as your unexpected neighbours.

It’s the perfect weekend getaway if you’re an animal lover, or honestly just someone who thinks everything is better when there are llamas involved.

A cozy stay with serious views

The suite itself has a warm, rustic feel with a modern touch. It spans the entire southern wing of a 1940s farmhouse and includes a private entrance, an open living space, a kitchenette, and two cozy bedrooms. The large windows and second-story balcony overlook the llama pastures, making it easy to relax and watch ranch life unfold outside.

There is also a private fenced yard with a covered deck, propane fireplace, BBQ, and hot tub, adding to the true getaway experience. Additionally, guests will have access to a wood-burning fire pit, perfect for those nights when you want to roast marshmallows and take in the stars.

One of the best parts of this stay is the location: Bragg Creek, which is about an hour from Banff and Canmore, making it a great spot for hiking and exploring the Rockies.

Stays at the ranch start at $285 per night, making it a pretty accessible option for a getaway just outside the city. With summer right around the corner, it’s a good idea to book early, as spots tend to fill up quickly once the warmer weather hits and people start planning more weekend escapes.

It is not every day you find an Airbnb where llamas are part of the experience, but that is what makes this spot stand out. Between the quiet ranch setting, the Rocky Mountains nearby, and the fact that you’re casually sharing a space with a herd of llamas, it feels like a small escape without having to go far from Calgary.
