This Ontario winter festival will have horse-drawn wagon rides & fire pits

One of Ontario’s top winter festivals returns next month and with it comes a weekend full of outdoor activities and entertainment. Barrie Winterfest kicks off this February with ice sculptures, lumberjack shows and so much more.

From February 3rd to 4th, the City of Barrie welcomes the return of its Winterfest, an annual festivity that gathers those near and far to partake in winter activities.

Taking place at both Heritage Park and Meridian Place, some of the activities include Horse-drawn wagon rides, Buskers and family entertainments, fire pits, marshmallow roasting, and snow sculptures, just to name a few.

Speaking of sculptures, head to Meridian Place and feast your eyes on the artistic masterpieces carved from 300lb blocks of ice.

This year’s theme is flight and professional sculptors will showcase their creations Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Toronto Kite Fliers will also be in attendance, showcasing a number of different kites through a special winter aerial display.

You can also enjoy a Fish Underwater exhibit on the Saturday, and “Speaking of Wildlife” exhibit, too.

For the kids, expect Snow Valley’s mini tube slide, Nature in Winter programming, including the City’s portable nature play kitchen, and inflatables and games.

And for an additional cost, there are helicopter rides (weather permitting), Scouts winter cookout, and a vendor market to explore.

Make the most of this winter and check out what Barrie has to offer. Count us in for all these Winterfest activities.

When: February 3rd from 10 AM to 5 PM and February 4th from 10 AM to 4 PM
