This is when you can expect to see fall colours in Alberta’s oldest National Park

The winds of change are blowing in and with pumpkin spice on the menu, it’s only a matter of time until the leaves change colour! Can’t wait to immerse yourself in the orange, red, and gold? There’s no place like Banff National Park, Alberta!

Whether you love to hike or want to watch the magic happen from behind your steering wheel, the fall foliage in Alberta’s famous mountain town is well worth the trip.

Timing, however, will be everything.

Here’s when you could see fall colours in Banff

When it comes to autumn—planning ahead is incredibly important.

While you won’t find full forests of larch or aspen trees, there are enough to brighten the area and wow, is it beautiful!

According to Banff and Lake Louise Tourism, those who live for a pop of yellow should visit just after the fall equinox, which is on the 22nd this year.

“The fall colours in Banff typically start around the middle of September and get into full swing by about September 23rd,” they explain.

“Coming to Banff and Lake Louise in the last two weeks of September offers you the best opportunity to see the fall colours.”
