This short hike takes you past two stunning waterfalls in Ontario

Summer is the season for scenic strolls, and we know the perfect spot. Ball’s Falls Conservation Area takes you to two majestic waterfalls in one short hike.

Nestled in the Twenty Valley of Lincoln, Ontario, this area is known for its incredible natural beauty.

In addition to the Niagara escarpment and gorge, you’ll get incredible views of both the Upper and Lower Ball’s Falls, as well as historic buildings that’ll transport you back in time.

The main waterfall plunges about 27 metres and the main viewing point is just 100 metres from the parking lot, according to Ontario Waterfalls.

However, don’t wait too long to pay this beautiful spot a visit as it does tend to dry up in the late summer months.

The prime season for viewing these falls is spring.

There is a reason that these waterfalls are named Ball’s Falls, and no, it’s not to make you blush.

The site is named after the Ball family, who were originally from Germany and had mill operations in the area, says Tourism Niagara.

Back in the 19th century, the region was nothing but a small village where the Ball family lived and worked.

Some buildings from that time period are still standing today, including the blacksmith shop, flour mill, restored church, and the Ball family home.

According to AllTrails, the waterfall hike at Ball’s Falls is approximately 1.8 kilometres out and back.

The popular trail takes about 29 minutes to complete, on average. It’s open year-round and dogs are welcome on a leash.

So, if you’re looking for a picturesque destination for your next weekend adventure, this conservation area will not disappoint.
