You can take a yoga class with baby goats at Granary Road in Calgary

Nothing says relaxation quite like baby goats.

Okay, maybe that’s a bit of a stretch. But those sweet little creatures and their adorable faces certainly get the good brain chemicals flowing. Combine that with yoga, and you’re in for a treat — body and soul.

Granary Road, an outdoor learning park and garden centre in Calgary, is once again offering Goat Yoga on select weekends in spring and summer. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like: a yoga class with the company of baby goats!

The classes are led by a certified yoga instructor (and that would be a human, not a goat) and are only $25. That’s right on par with traditional yoga studio drop-in rates, if not lower, and those guys don’t even have goats. BYOM (bring your own mat), and if you don’t have one, a towel or blanket is fine.

The goats in question are African Pygmy Goats, which are a much smaller breed than standard goats. The babies are nimble and light, weighing not much more than a small dog. Yes, they’re sweet as can be. No, you can’t take one home with you.

Know before you goat

Leave your Lulus at home for this class. Goats are not potty trained and tend to nibble, so it’s best to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. A hat is also a good idea, as sometimes a goat might mistake your hair for hay. Don’t worry, it’s not personal.

Goat Yoga is fun for all ages and abilities, including kids. Just be sure to keep an eye on your little ones — the baby goats tend to get over-excited when they meet baby humans. Class space is limited and almost always sells out, so make sure you secure your spot online well in advance.

A ticket to Goat Yoga also includes an all-access day pass to the active learning park, mini-golf, and farm. Prepare to get zen with a new friend!
