Toronto announces free art exhibitions & installations all over the city

Art enthusiasts, this one’s for you. A year-long celebration of exceptional art, called ArtworxTO: Toronto’s Year of Public Art, is bringing all kinds of free public exhibits, installations, and displays to the city this year.

“This exciting new initiative supports artists and art projects that reflect Toronto’s diversity and creates more opportunities for the public to engage with art in their everyday lives,” the description says.

The art will be on display at various ArtworxTO Hubs in Union Station, Cloverdale Common, Scarborough Town Centre, and Downsview Park. The displays you’ll get to see are contemporary works by local and international artists.

There’s even an interactive map you can check out for all of the displays in your neighbourhood and around town.

Some of the exhibitions are already open to the public, while others don’t open until March.

Some of the displays you can see now are the IMAGInuity exhibit at Downsview Park, Scarborough at Scarborough Town Centre, A Place to Put Your Things at The Power Plant, and Dinner Party at Union Station.

Opening in early March is the I am land installation at Union Station, and HOME(LAND) at Cloverdale Common. Each of the installations has its own unique theme and message.

You have until this fall to explore all that ArtworxTO has to offer and it doesn’t cost a dime to show local artists some support.
