This scenic Washington snowshoe trail has 4 miles of mountain views

Looking to get outdoors this winter? Snow is on the way to Washington and it’s time to get out your snowshoes. This weekend, consider a trip to the scenic and aptly named Artist Point in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.

Your adventure at Artist Point is 4 miles roundtrip, coming in with moderate difficulty. Throughout your journey you’ll gain 1000 feet of elevation, hitting 5,100 feet at the highest point.

As you walk you’ll get to take in the views of Mount Shuksan, Mount Baker and the Cascades. It’s easy to see how it got its name!

The area is known for large amounts of snowfall but is also very popular so it is highly likely you’ll have tracks to follow.

The has avalanche terrain so be sure to check the NWAC report for going and avoid the area if risk is high.

It’s important to note that the final section of Mount Baker Highway to the area does close each winter. So for this reason you’ll need to start the trail near the restrooms at the Heather Meadows parking lot at the Mount Baker Ski Area.

Enjoy!
