Anti-Valentine’s Day events you can check out in Vancouver this year

Whether you can’t stand Valentine’s Day or just aren’t feeling it this year, Vancouver has a handful Anti-Valentine’s Day events going on that look pretty tempting. And if romantic dinners aren’t your thing, all the more reason to consider these options.

So grab a drink, shred a picture of your ex, and see a show that pokes fun at the romantic holiday. Here are some Anti-Valentine’s Day events to check out in Vancouver this year.

‘Heartbreak Hotel’ at Greta Bar

Greta Bar in Gastown has transformed into the ultimate “Heartbreak Hotel,” and between now and Tuesday, February 14th, you can drown out your heartbreak with some special cocktails ($13.34 each), like the Heartbreak Martini and the Pucker Up Passion Margarita. All jokes aside, a night out playing arcade games with friends sounds like the perfect way to spend a Tuesday evening, if you ask us.

The best part? $2 of each heartbreak-themed cocktail will be donated to the BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. So drinks with a purpose!

When: Now until Tuesday, February 14th
Where: 50 West Cordova Street

Happy Un-Valentine’s Day at Granville Island

If you’re looking for a way to celebrate “the unromantic,” then look no further than this 90-minute “Un-Valentine’s Day” show at Granville Island’s Improv Centre. The show commences at 7:30 pm, and will no doubt be a fun way to connect with fellow Anti-Valentine’s Day folk.

When: Wednesday, February 15th
Where: 1502 Duranleau Street

Valentine’s Day Spotlight Party

We know this one isn’t explicitly Anti-Valentine’s, but if you show up to the Portside Pub on February 14th with a picture of your ex, they’ll shred it for you and you’ll receive a free fireball shot. If that’s not one big middle finger salute to the holiday, we don’t know what is.

Oh, and tickets are free if you order them online!

When: Tuesday, February 14th
Where: 7 Alexander Street

So there you have it, Vancouver. Just a couple of non-traditional ways to mark the occasion. Cheers!
