An arcade just north of Calgary is a retro gamer’s paradise

Arcade consoles, cheesy pizza, and ample amounts of flashing, colourful lights — does it get better than this? For folks in Calgary and Airdrie, Apple Creek Arcade is a fantasia of video game classics that will make you feel like you’ve stepped into the ’90s.

Whether you’ve got nostalgia for a vintage gaming party or are looking for a fun place to book a family birthday, this is the spot.

Conveniently located on Apple Creek Golf Course, you can clock in for a round and leave the kids to play, or join in on the fun with dozens of games ranging from air hockey to axe-throwing.

What to expect

Apple Creek Arcade was recently renovated — well, in terms of arcades, that is.

There’s no crumbling basements here, though the one at Apple Creek Arcade is stocked with an air hockey table, basketball challenges, racing cabinets, bowling, and pinball machines.

Light gun titles, ski ball and Hungry Hippos are among the games stocked at this multi-level retro gamer’s paradise.

There are also nods to classic characters, like Bowser, Megaman and Pac-Man, painted on the walls.

Reviewers note that the machines are well-maintained and it’s easy to play, with payment accepted by tap card and game credits.

Staff are friendly, and there’s plenty of greasy delicacies to gnaw on, including pizza, burgers, and breakfast served until 11 a.m.

If you’re looking to book a party bus out to the venue, you can get one locally in Airdrie and give you and your family the VIP treatment.

There are also convenient packages that you can book for groups, which include goodie bags, pop and pizza at various tier levels.

That means you can smash the easy button at your birthday party this year!

Whether you’re in Calgary, Airdrie, or somewhere close by, Apple Creek Arcade is waiting to fulfill your arcade dreams.
