You can take the train from Toronto to New York as Amtrak resumes its cross-border service

You can fly to New York from Toronto, or take the bus. And now, you can also take the train as Amtrak has resumed its cross-border service.

According to Amtrak, it is resuming the cross-border service on the Maple Leaf to Toronto effective June 27.

The train service offers daily departure, with stops in Niagara Falls, Syracuse, Albany, and New York. The trip takes 12 hours and 30 minutes in total.

“Go international onboard the Maple Leaf from New York City to Canada’s equally urban metropolis, Toronto. Along the way, you’ll travel through the beautiful Hudson River Valley, New York’s wine country, and the incredible gorges of the Finger Lakes region near the dramatic spectacle of Niagara Falls, where the Maple Leaf crosses the US/Canadian border,” states Amtrak’s description.

The train arrives at Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station, which is the new home of Amtrak in New York City. The station features “state-of-the-art technologies and customer amenities, and a spacious boarding concourse that bathes in sunlight from the 92-foot-high skylights.”

Amtrak is reminding passengers that in addition to the standard entry documentation requirements, the Canadian and United States Governments have several additional requirements for travel into Canada and the United States. The full requirements for entry are listed on the Amtrak website.
